Kenneth R. Boyd
Local 1546 President & UFCW International Vice President

Kenneth R. Boyd became President of Local 1546 of the United Food & Commercial Workers International Union (UFCW), in January of 2002, and was appointed as a UFCW International Vice President in January of 2006.

Early on, Mr. Boyd worked as a union meat cutter, and eventually launched his career in the labor movement as a Fund Representative. He later served as a Union Representative, and for a number of years as the organization’s Secretary-Treasurer before becoming President of Local 1546.

Mr. Boyd has over twenty years of experience with employer benefits plans, and serves on the boards of three health and welfare funds and three pension funds. He also sits on the Trustees Committee of the International Foundation of Employee Benefits.

 

Kenneth A. Urzedowski, Secretary-Treasurer

Ken Urzedowski began his career as an apprentice / Journeyman with Dominick’s Finer Foods. Active in the Union he became an Executive Board member in 1974 with Local 189 until the local merged with 1540 where he continued his role as a board member. In 1996 Ken joined Local 1540 as a Union Representative. In 2000 he became the Meat Director. In 2002 when Local 1540 and Local 546 merged to form Local 1546 Ken became the Executive Assistant and Director of Retail Meat & Grocery.   He remained in that role until becoming Secretary-Treasurer of Local 1546 August 1, 2014.  Ken is also a trustee on the Midwest Health & Pension Fund and is the President of the North Central Illinois Labor Council.

As one of the top officers of Local 1546, Ken’s responsibilities as Secretary-Treasurer include overseeing the labor organization’s efforts in membership service, collective bargaining, organizing, health and welfare, and communications.
