Omar started working for a nursing home in 2003, which was non-union back then. In 2004 he and his coworkers decided that they were tired of being mistreated. He organized and became part of UFCW Local 1546. Omar then became a union Steward in 2006. He began working for UFCW in 2011 by helping with the campaign called Organization United for Respect at Wal-Mart. In 2015, he joined UFCW Region 4 International where he worked as an organizer until 2017. In April 2017, Omar transferred from UFCW Region 4 International to UFCW LOCAL 1546 where he was a Union Representative and Organizer. In 2019 he was promoted to Director of Healthcare.
